Assuming you have a retail version of the XP CD visit my website at
http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org Click the Win XP Faq button and then look
at question 85. This will give you an illustrated guide to installing
Windows XP.
If you don't have a retail version of XP, but only have recovery disks, all
you need do is insert the first recovery disk into your cd-rom drive and
reboot. A menu will appear and you can choose to re-install the software,
changing the recovery disks as they are asked for. (assuming you have more
than one recovery disk, of course)
If you have no recovery disks then check your PC manual to see how to
install the operating system again.

Back up all your favorites/documents/etc to CD's, then pop in your XP Home
Cd, and reboot your machine.

It will ask you something like "press any key to boot from the CD..." hit a
button, then I beleive its Esc not to repair the current installation,
followed by d to delete the partition, L to verify you want to do this, then
enter to install.
