i had windows explorer crash and restart on me for the first time the
other day. no big deal. not sure what caused it, but i know something
out of the ordinary was happening at the time.

my question is this: is it possible to reinstall windows explorer if
it has been slightly corrupted in some way?

would a repair install be the way to go? i'm concerned that i'm going
to lost a lot of data and have problems with software if i do a repair
install.

thx

(i'm asking now because i like to plan ahead.)

If you mean Internet Explorer, then just do a repair. It should not cause
loss of data but if you are not routinely backing up your data you will
suffer data loss sometime.

Hi

Do you mean Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer?

Hi

Go to Start>Search>For Files or Folders... and search for

explorer.exe

You may find a copy in the windows\servicepackfiles\i386 folder. If so,
copy/paste the file to the windows folder.

Data loss is a matter of when, not if. You should always be prepared
for something happening that affects data, so always have a full and
complete backup.
