reinstalling Windows 2000

I had a PC crash on me. I have the Windows 2000 CD and the Product ID for
that PC. When I install Win2K and it asks me for the Product ID I enter it
in and I get an error message saying that the Product ID is invalid.

I have another Win2k CD and reinstall from that CD and When asked I enter
the Product ID that is for that CD, I get the same message. I enter the
Product code for that PC (the orginal) and I still get the same message.

I have FDISK the drive, deleted the partition, created the partition, format
the drive and than installed where i would also format the drive again. I
have changed to a different hard and still I get the product id is invalid.
Any ideas on what I need to do. the Hard drives -- one is a Western
digital and the other is a Seagate.

Thanks so much!

You need to find the correct Windows 2000 Product Key.

I have 2 Win2K CD's with the Product ID's for each of them. Is there another
Product ID that I should know about.

Thank you for your reply, i have already gone that route with the O and zero,
and 8 and b's etc... that did not work.

Carey,

I have the orginal Windows 2000 CD with the Product code. Why can't I
reinstall Windows 2000? Why does it come up with Invalid Product code? If
the product code has an 8 in it I changed it to a B and also with O's and
zero's. However I still get that message.
