Reinstalling Win XP

I'm planning to reinstall my WinXP for better performance but since I've
heard alot of people said that if I dont backup the right things it will
cause alot of problems so I have a few questions:
- When doing a complete reinstall WinXP, do I have to backup my drivers
(video, sound,....)? Does reinstalling delete all my driver files or does it
keep them?
- Besides my documents and my personal files, do i have to backup any system
files?
- and just for confirmation, my other drive (not the C drive) will be
unaffected during reinstallation right?

A "Complete" reinstall will totally wipe the the drive.

The drivers need to be installed, you cannot "Back them up". You will need
to get drivers for your motherboard, sound card, graphics card, modem,
network card etc. these should be available from the manufacturers site/s.

Don't forget to export/save your emails, address book, bookmarks etc.

The second drive should be unaffected, but things can and do go wrong. If
you are worried about that physically disconnect the drive.

Things are about to go wrong if you have another drive installed during the
xp installation. With another drive installed, you'll loose some installation
data
as the other hd gets them installed to instead.Unplug all unneeded hardware..

Thank you, i'll take a look at those websites
and is there a program that scan my computer (after the complete install) to
see what drivers need update? Just in case I miss out something

Get hold of Belarc Advisor and run it before you nuke your machine, that
package will identify most of the components installed.

After you have reinstalled the OS and the drivers just run the windows
Device Manager, components that do not have the correct drivers installed
will usually have a yellow ! mark next to them.
