Reinstalling Updates & Patches on Clean Install

Is it possible to download patches and updates for XP to
my cd burner w/ appropriate drive letter before I
Repartition and reformat my hard drive so that when I do
install my system, I can save the registry settings before
I get on internet?, thus reducing the chances of
contracting a virus while getting the downloads from the
web site? Any suggestions?................Thanks, plain

Yes - just use the Windows Update Catalog.
Just enable this on your Personalize Windows Update on
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Mike:
Thanks for helping me out with this so quickly. I was
only able to download Blaster Worm Removal Tool to a
folder I had previously made on C. How do I get the
larger 9mb file? It downloaded for about 30 min. and when
all was said and done, I got a fail to download
message....
