Reinstalling a Driver

I'm having a problem with my DVD-rom driver, it's not reading disks and I
can't find it when I access my computer. It's not the original DVD-Rom drive
the old one messed up and the company fixed it and put in a Toshiba DVD-rom
drive, and I have an HP Computer, and the computer and the drive and have
worked fine up until now. When I pulled my hardware properties there was a
yellow exclamation point next to it and it stated that windows cannot load
the device driver for this hardware the driver may be corrupted or missing.
I tried searching for updates in hopes of restoring it back to normal but the
helper couldn't find anything so now I guess I have to uninstall and
reinstall. My question is, how do I do this?

In Device Manager, right click on the device and select Uninstall. Then
reboot the PC. XP should pick it up and reinstall the correct driver on
startup.

I clicked on uninstall and restarted my computer. I tried this and after I
rebooted and went to the area to look at my hardware, it was still sitting
there with that same exclamation point, I'm confused. What should I do now?

Try updating your IDE drivers (follow the same process as for the DVD).

If it does not work, look for "upper/lower" filters fix for CD/DVD drives
