Reinstalled windows, i can scan old files but can't access them

i had reinstall windows XP i can scan old files but can't access them when i
do i keep on getting this error "c:\Documents and settings\Aaron is not
accessible Access is denied" can anyone help accessing my old files ?

Right click file >> Properties - examine atributes ("Read only", hiddemn,
encrypted etc) >> click "Security" tab and examine/change list of allowwed
users.

If "security" tab doesnt display go to: Control Panel >> Administartive
tools >> Local Security Policies >> locate "Network access: Sharing and
security model for local accounts" >> right click it >> "Properties" >> chane
to "classic mode".

You can reverse process afterwards even "security" tab in files and folder
offers more options.

Forgot to ask, have you reinsatlled Windows over old version and it retained
old files? How you did it just choosing install from Instalation CD?

In XP Home you have to boot in safe mode to see the security tab. In XP Pro
you have to disable simple file sharing.
