Windows not starting

Hi,
Can't get windows to start after running smoothly with no problems, can even
get the windows loading pic up. Nothing new was installed and ran Chkdsk
which found loads of unreadable files. Also ran Kerpersky virus checker which
found nothing so presume drive is packing in.
Have 2 drives installed and both have OS on them, so i could just copy all
relevant files over to new OS but would like to know if it is possible to get
the old OS working as I can still access the old drive. Everyting seems to be
ok on it so don't know what has happened for the old OS to stop.
So what can i copy and where to get it working or is it not that simple.

Also my old OS had password to access my files, so i can't open my old
folder, says 'access denied' how do I get into it.

Sorry another query,
How do I get my OE emails and accounts from the old OE to the new one.

Thanks

Should also point out that have the latest version of system Mech pro
installed and when I first installed it I made a recovery disc which when run
isn't finding a problem with the drives!

Was wondering if I opened up System restore on the old os off the old drive
and ran it, would it restore the windows currently running or the OS on the
old drive?

yes but it was working fine for weeks with no problems.

That's the terrible thing about registry cleaners. They usually don't
cause problems, so they erroneously convince people they are safe.
Nevertheless the *risk* of their causing a problem is always there.

Here's my standard post on the subject:

Registry cleaning programs are *all* snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

So basically it's buggered and don't use a reg cleaner!!!

But surely I can just copy and paste any missing files or folders that the
registry cleaner may have deleted.

Or is it not possible, as I can access the drive, to run system restore from
it?

Yes, you should never use a registry cleaner. Yes, it's possible that
the registry cleaner caused your problem, but I don't know that for
sure.

But surely I can just copy and paste any missing files or folders that the
registry cleaner may have deleted.

it?

I thought you couldn't start Windows. If not, no you can't run System
Restore.

Sounds like your drive is dying.
