Hello Lisa,

No, you shouldn't have to reinstall any 3rd party software. An inplace
upgrade is like any other upgrade in that we install into the same directory
and inherit settings from the old registry. Since the upgrade process isn't
deleting 3rd party files and is retaining the settings from 3rd party
programs, all of your applications should still work correctly. However,
doing an inplace upgrade DOES replace Microsoft OS files. So you will need
to reapply your service pack, reinstall IE, and reinstall security updates.

If I have to reinstall Explorer does that mean I will have to reinstall Outlook Express as well and if so will all the mail currently in my inbox ect need to be saved

The main reason I think I need to reinstall is because I am getting a message when I open jpeg or gif files by double clicking that says "there was a problem sending the command to the program". I can open by asking to open with Internet Explorer. It appears to only effect files in My Documents and not those in my outlook express inbox. I havent been able to find out any info as to why this is happening and how to fix it

Thank
