Am planning to format my HDD and reinstall my Windows OS.

Four year old computer and thought I ought to clean up or rather clean out
software ghosts and the like.

System running slow. System restore not the answer.

Any suggestion about which specific
files/ folders are best to be preserved
other than OE6.0? That I found out from a web site.

Any specific suggestions about what folder/ file
is best to keep to maintain my personal settings
will be appreciated.

PS:

I have a 250 GB external HDD so file backup is not a problem.

Have all original discs for software.

You need to save all of your data files, OE, my documents etc. I would also
suggest that you save any down loaded programs that you need.

I would also strongly suggest that you make sure you can update your XP to
SP2 before you connect it to the Internet. On the same vain I would suggest
saving an updated copy of your AV program and updated adaware/spyware
programs so that you can install these before you connect to the Internet.
