I had huge problems copying data to disc and ended up reinstalling my Vista
Home Basic. (Probably not a good idea)
A bundle disc that came with the PC for Nero and LG Power DVD Suite would
not install due to incompatibility.
I was given a COPY of a later version of the disc and was able to install
Nero 7, and wow, I can actually copy files etc now.
But, I could not fully install the Power DVD Suite, it installs to approx
49% then hangs. I don't receive any error messages and have to use task
manager to end process.
When I reinstalled Vista, did I loose DirectX? Do I now need to reinstall? I
cannot find directx files on my pc, (only the OLD files from original
Installation).
I reinstalled printer/camera drivers etc, but never thought about other
drivers/utilities.

Surely, Directx would be on the Vista DVD that I used to reinstall??
Ok, so if I don't have directx, could this be why I can't intall Power
Suite, if yes, WHICH Directx do I download from M/Soft site? (there are so
many choices.)

Thanks in atticipation of your help!

There's no need to install DirectX. DirectX 10 is part of Windows Vista.
To check its status, and the status of devices that may use DirectX, type
dxdiag in the Start Search box in the Start Menu, and click on the result.
When the DirectX Diagnostics Tool opens, you can click on the button "Save
All Information..." for even more details.

An un-signed sound driver is not a problem if your sound works okay on your
computer. DirectX will still use it in applications that use DirectX sound,
signed or not. Your soundcard manufacturer may have a WHQL signed driver
update for Vista, though, which you can download.
