Reinstall of XP home to different partition

Would it be possible to install Wiondows XP on a blank partition and
transfer documents, mail, pictures etc from another partition on the
same drive?
I have the master discs and keys to all my programmes so that is not an
issue as I can re install them; what concerns me are my saved items.

What problems(s) have you got with XP? Have you considered a 'Repair'
install of XP?

Main problem is that the web browser (IE or Firefox) keeps "encountering
problems and need to close". I have tried reinstalling Firefox and
checked for all updates in IE but the problem still persists. The
reason for loading Firefox was that I thought the browser problem was
parrticular to IE and this would provide a solution.
