I have 2 copies of win xp pro, each one installed on
separate notebook computers. One of the notebooks has a
crashed hard drive which I am getting ready to replace.
Unfortunately, neither copy of xp is identified as to
which copy was installed on which computer. Is there a
way I can know which copy was the one originally used on
the crashed computer, or does it matter? I am trying to
avoid activation conflicts and am unsure how a
reinstallation works.

I can get the product id from the good computer, but that
number does not correspond to the product key on the xp
package.

Can anyone help?

Thanks very much.

Point your browser to www.aida32.hu and download Aida. Besides being
an excllent system/network Audit tool, it will also display the
25-character COA number you used to install.
