reinstall from laptop cd to my desktop

I have a installation cd from my gateway laptop, can i install that xp pro os
onto my dell desktop and use my dell driver/util cd to finish the install. my
desktop has xp media which i do not like.

No. Your Gateway CD can only be used with your Gateway PC.
If you desire to install Windows XP Professional on your Dell PC,
you'll need to purchase a conventional "Full Version" of Windows
XP Professional and perform a "clean install". You can download
the latest Dell drivers directly from the Dell Support web site.
