Hi

I upgraded my installation of Vista to Ultimate from Home Premium using the
Anytime Upgrade online feature. Subsequently I decided to do a complete
reinstall on the same machine (changing raid configuration). On installation
I opted for the Ultimate Version, however the operating system will not
activate stating that the key is not correct for the that version of windows.

Can anyone suggest how you are supposed to proceed in this situation?

Thanks

Tom John

Hi

I have not had to do this, but did wonder if I use the Home Premium disk to
reinstall adn enter my Ultimate key, i assumed that I would be automatically
installing an Ultimate version, bought as an anytime upgrade online? Is
this not the case? I got the key by using Belarc adviser

Thanks

V

If you didn't receive an email from the company you purchased the upgrade
from, contact them

It took me three months to figure out how this works, because they neglected
to send me an email

I had to do something similar to this. You install Vista (home premium?)
with the original key and then you should be able to change the key after
installation in order to upgrade it to ultimate. I just double clicked on
the key file it downloaded when I did the anytime upgrade to ultimate.

You purchase a file, not a key. You need this file, it is located at
www.windowsmaretplace.com in a digital locker

You need an account there. This is how its suppose to work. You should have
gotten an email detailing this info.

You have to reinstall the operating systems in the same order again - Home
Premium, then Ultimate.

Thanks for this, yep... I have a digital locker and there is a windows
ultimate install licence sitting there for me. Checked again back through all
my emails from MS when performing the upgrade, I received nothing from them.

If anyone else is looking the url is www.windowsmarketplace.com.

Cheers

Yea Tom,
I bought my copy from Staples and never received an email. I spent 3 months
on the
phone with them and MS trying to find out how this works. Great idea, but
they
have to let the customers in on the secret, ya know?
