regsvr32.exe utility

After installing XP2 when I run the regsvr32.exe utility to register/unregister a .dll file that I
know exists, I get an error stating that dll can't be found. I've used the complete path method,
enclosed the path in quotes etc., but nothing works. Is this a known issue with the install or
should I look elsewhere. Thanks for your time!

Hi Reggie

What is the name if the .DLL? The format is

regsvr32 / <filename>.dll

However the .DLL file may not be self-registering/un-registering.

Hi

To be sure that the path is correct, you can do like this:

Open Explorer and go to the folder where the DLL file resides.

Open Start/Run, and type in regsvr32.exe. Then "drag" the file from
Explorer up on the Start/Run dialog box and drop it there (you don't
need to "hit" the line, dropping it wherever on the Run box works
fine).

This drop on Run action actually also automatically add a space in
front of the path, and it automatically puts on quotes if there is
spaces in the path.

If the error message still pops up, please press Ctrl+C, this will
put the text in the dialog box into the clipboard, and you can then
paste the error as text into a post here on the newsgroup for us to
look at.

Thanks for the help. I had tried the drag & drop before, but that didn't help. It turned out to be
a problem with a different install I did a few days ago. Removed it and all is well. Thanks again
for your time!
