Registry & Taskmanger Problem

I my battle to reclaim my computer from SPYware. I begun
to encounter a problem where my system registry and task
manager will not stay running i.e. ctrl-alt-del opens the
task manager, but when I try to click on it towards using
it - it shuts down before I can access it. The same
problem occurs for regedt32. Neither will stay tunning
for more than a fraction of a second. This must surely be
a rersult of some hijack program. How do I return these
application to their normal status i.e. open means open
till I purposefully close them.

Update your anti virus software and run a complete system scan.

[[When you open System Configuration Utility [MSCONFIG], Registry Editor or
Task Manager, they flash for a second and quit. This symptom is caused by
Viruses.]]

Hi,

I have had too a spyware attack on my computer and thought it was
deleted by an online virus scan but the task manager problem is still
there.

Does this mean the virus hasn't been completely deleted or is there
something else to do like restoring the task manager function ?

Viruses and spyware are two different animals. The only thing they have in
common is that the authors are scum.

To identify, quarantine and (often, but not always) remove a virus you need
antivirus software. To identify and (often, but not always) remove spyware -
which includes, dialers, BHOs, hijackers, etc. etc - you need a spyware
detector.

To best chance you have to remove a virus or spyware is to let the software
do its job. Failing that, there are removal instructions on the web sites of
the major antivirus and anti-spyware companies, but they are not for the
faint of heart. The wrong thing to do is to try to remove the infection
yourself.

Viruses and spyware can be notoriously difficult to remove. Sometimes,
removal can result in an unstable system. Other times, removal is not
complete, so the symptoms persist even when the software reports that the
infection has been removed.

All things considered, then, prevention is much, much easier than cure.
