I am currently looking at the places the registry records
a user code that is put in a printer driver Printing
Preferences. I have found this code kept in
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModePerUser and
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Printers\DevModes2

Does anyone know why there are two keys?

thanks
Peter

DevMode2 is for backward compatibility for 16bit applications

Some print drivers, not shipped with Windows, write their own keys with user
preferences.
