I need to make a change in the registry to delete a program. I have made
several attempts but not successful yet. The file that I am trying to
delete shows up in several areas and if I delete all of them, then I
have other problems. Is there somewhere or something that I go to to
find out what each command means in the registry.
TIA
Well, I guess I should have given the long story of my problem.
My computer (Win XP, sp3 and all updates) has a rapid access keyboard,
which is great for the wife. The program that loads it is "SKDAEMON".
My problem is when I power up I expect the desktop to appear and stay
there until an operation is started. This has been the case for several
years now but recently had to reformat/reload my system due to a virus.
Everything has been reloaded normally but now when I do a power up my
system starts up my internet connection. I can close the connection and
a few minutes later it is back to being connected.
I remember a few years ago having this same problem and somehow got it
resolved but my memory recall is not working too well. I did remember
that a file "SKSMAILD.EXE" is the main culprit. After a power up I can
go into task manager and remove it as a process and my system will work
normally until I do another power up operation.
I did a backup of my registry and went into it and deleted all
references to "SKSMAILD.EXE" and it caused another problem. This is
where I am now and am just wondering how I can tell which entry in the
registry is causing the file to load.
Hopefully I made this as clear as mud....
TIA
