I installed XP Pro over ME. Many, many problems later I am asking myself if
I should start over and do a clean install. But, before I do that, however,

You could try to clean your registry. RegCleaner is a good free utility and
if you want to spend some buck, Registry Mechanic is also good. Of course, a
clean install is recommended over upgrades, especially when going from
Windows 9x or NT4 to Windows XP.
