registry problems in RC2....

I have just installed RC2 having had no problems with RC1. I am unable to
install apps including live messenger. I get error 1603 at the end of the
installation when it tries to create a registry entry.. I have also tried to
install office 2007 and that wont install either.

I think the registry must be messed up somehow but I'm not very clued about
it so I wouldn't know how to fix it.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should fix it?

Thanks

Maybe not a registry problem then.

I just reinstalled RC2 from scratch and I still have the same problem.
Are there any known problems with RC2 and messenger?

Tried running the installer as administrator - still doesn't install.

At the end of the installation (when I get the error prompt), There is a
"MSN Messenger" folder created in program files. If I run "msnmsgr" within
the folder, messenger runs fine. When the computer is restarted everything in
the "MSN Messenger" folder disappears but the folder remains.

I tried giving all users including SYSTEM full access to the c: drive as
shown in the link you provided.

When the folder is created in the installation, it is created with limited
permissions.

It seems the problem is related to permissions. Is there an MS guy who can
give more insight into this? Is Vista set to block some installers by default
or is there something wrong with my system or my installation of RC2?
