registry fix

I tried getting rid of norton corp ed on win2k pro...
wouln't let me ....so I dug into the registry and got rid
of anything that delt with norton.....now I cant install
norton home ed....I keep getting an error sayin windows
installer is not located or something.....is there a
program that fix's registry....HELP !!!!!

Yes, there is. It's called reinstalling the OS. There
might be 3rd party programs out there, but I don't beleive
any work %100, the registry is too complex. Plus, they'd
cost you money.

Can you install any programs at all with Windows
Installer? For future reference John, always make a
backup of your registry before making major changes,
ESPECIALLY, since you are not familiar with registry
hacking. It sounds like you have deleted an important
registry pointer. If Symantec/Norton does not have an
answer for you, your only option will be to reinstall
Windows 2000. If you run the 2000 setup from Windows, you
will have an option to upgrade, use this option, it has
better results than reinstalling from bootup. You won't
have to wipe out the OS & most of your Windows settings
will remain. However, you will have to reinstall most of
your programs as well. (That's the perils of blindly
hacking the registry without a backup.) Consider it a
learning experience. :)

Yes I will consider this a learning experience.....and not
practicing what I preach.........I tried reinstalling the
OS but kept gettin error about Keybord something wouldn't
load...........But thanks for the tips
