Occassionally getting the message on boot that "one or
more files containing the system's registry data had to
be recovered by use of a log or alternate copy. The
rcovery was successful". Seems that maybe my XP Home is
not shutting down properly. Tried cleaning and optimizing
the registry which helps for awhile but problems return.
Any assistance appreciated. Once happened so many times
that eventually I could not log on and had to recopy the
activation file which I fortunately had backed up. Thanks.

Greetings, thanks for the response. Had a problem with
the video card that produced a HAL.dll problem but
removed it and reverted to onboard video (Asus CUSL2 MB).
Seemed fine after that.
Thanks again.

Greetings Kelly, Thanks, I appreciate it.

Hi Stephen,

Go to Recovery Console and type:

cd system32\config
ren system system.old
ren system.alt systemalt.old
copy c:\windows\repair\system
copy c:\windows\repair\regback\system
exit
