registry error regarding load file?

Keith Crosswy

When I boot up I get the following messages, any help is appreciated.
I am using Win 2000 Professional.

"cannot find the file 'load=load=load=load=load=load=load='(or one of
it's components). Make sure the path and filename are correct and that
all required libraries are available."
I click on the OK button and get the following:
"could not run or load 'load=load... specified in the registry. Make
sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in
the registry"

Again I click the OK button and everything seems to load. However
some downloads don't seem to load properly or at all.

I have reformatted and reinstalled the OS threee times and still get
the same error message. Again I appreciate any help.

cheers,
keith

Check these locations in the registry; Start | Run | regedit | OK

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Anything odd in there? Ask here if you aren't sure.

Also check using Windows Explorer:

C:\Documents and Settings\%profile%\Start Menu\Programs\Startup
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup

for any programs set to start at boot you are unfamiliar with.

The other place where you can get programs starting at start up is in Services. But check these above first.

Hi George,

Thanks for the input. in regedit there are two files that I'm not
familiar with. One is named "Bookedspace", the other is a series of
numbers - {2CF0B992-5EEB-4143-99CO-5297EF71F444}. Othert than that
everything looks ok. Any ideas?

In other words you have been able to verify each file that is called in these two keys and the Startup menus and as far as you can tell everything looks kosher? If that's the case I can do no more unless you print out a list of what is in these 2 run keys. I can tell you pretty quick what should be there and what shouldn't even without knowing your installed applicatuions. I'm not going to hit it head on but I will give it a shot. If you want a script to do it I have two that you can use.
