The problem was solved. In the process of using regedit to find screen
functions, I discovered that the F3 function was broken too. Then I played
with all the buttons on the fancy keyboard and found that one of them, Key
Maestro, disabled print screen as well as F3.
I sure wasted a lot of time yesterday on this one!
