Registry Editor

My registry editor will not make changes to my registry. I can access the
editor and find all information, but when I delete a item it disappears of
the screen but when I return or refresh the screen the deleted entry
reappears.

I have tried multiple different types of edits. Even though the screen
shows the changes they are not being done

Well how about Symantec's web site it says to access Regedit type
regedt32. that is a command that dided with Win 2000.
