Registry and Save As

Is there a setting in the registry that controls the sort order for files
and directories that is displayed when using File | Save As from an app?

THe sort order is correct when using windows explorer, but not when I use
Save As.
I'm hoping tat there is a registry setting that can fix this?

What OS?
You describe the Windows Common Dialogs "Save as..." dialog and as
far as I know there is no persistent sort order setting available.
At least in W2K. FYI MS Office uses a different dialog that looks
similar and individual applications may supply their own "Save
as..." dialogs in some cases.

This problem did not occur until recently, so there's gotta be a setting
somewhere that is not being set correctly.
I see the same problem in several different apps, e.g. Acrobat, Firefox, IE
and Thunderbird.

So, there's common problem somewhere.

Indeed, but the group handles W2K SP0-1-2-3-4... XP Home and Pro
SP0-1-2 and generally all NT5.x releases...

Then I do not know. Sorry. You could try setting up a folder then
applying the Folder Options, View, all "Like current folder".
Perhaps that will help? (W2K)

The problem occurs only with Save AS, not Windoze Explorer.
I'll try a reset, and keep my fingers, toes, eyes, etc, crossed.

Resetting Folder options seems to have fixed the problem.

I have not touched folder options in at least a year, so some software must
have blown the setting.
I'd have to blame NAV 2005 as that was the only recent software installation
(on 26 Aug 2005) and I did not notice the problem until after that date.

Good to hear that worked for you. I do think tiny Sort By buttons in
those common dialogs would be useful...maybe in Vista.
