Appending to the Registry

Hi,
I am trying to append a directory path to to other directory paths already in the Windows Registry.
the location of the paths is here
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R19.1\ACAD-D001:409\Profiles\<<Unnamed Profile>>\General]

Name:
ACAD

Type:
REG_EXPAND_SZ

I want to add a few paths to the already set paths. I tried one way, but all I did was erase the paths already in there.
I really have no idea how to do this. Any help for a total noob would be really appreciated.
Please keep it simple too as I really am a noob trying to learn.
