Registry Access Denied

A few weeks ago, my machine running Windows XP started to show some peculiar
behavior.

When I right click a folder trying to operate on it (such as creating a sub
folder, or renaming a file), it always pop up a window stating that
"Registries access denied" nd then the menu is displayed. Unfortunately, I
still cannot create subfolders.

Any clue on what is happening?

Maybe not related: I happened to sign up for a Windows Live ID around that
time and also I sign up for the Partner Membership Program.

If these procedures look too complex - and there is no shame in admitting
this isn't your cup of tea - take the machine to a local, reputable and
independent (i.e., not BigBoxStoreUSA or Geek Squad) computer repair shop.

Thanks for the advice. I have done Spybot but nothing shows up and the
problem still exists. I shall try the other before I bring my machine to the
repair shop.
