Registration

Specifically if you do not register you will not be able
to download any product updates. That includes service
packs, security fixes, or additional software. This is a
problem if you dont want a hackable machine. I am stuck
in a bind where I had a motherboard failure and switch
the HD to a new motherboard I can reactivate but not re-
register so now no updates which means I have a number of
bugs to worry about. I would love to be able to re
register. I even opened a case about it but no luck, and
no answers on the case.

Hogwash!
There is no need to register to get patches and updates.
I have never registered any microsoft software
and have never had any problems downloading any patches, etc.

You have to "Activate" XP, but you do not have to register.
