David

I recently had to reinstall/do a System Recovery of
Windows XP Home on my Sony Vaio laptop. The "Register
Your Windows XP" window keeps popping up, so I fill out
the info as requested(I have done this already when I
first went online back in April of this year), but it
gets to the "Checking Connection" window and I get
an "Action canceled" error page.

The problem with this is I am always connected(Cable
internet service).

Is Windows going to quit on me because of this?

Hi David,

Registration is not required, only activation is. If you have redone
activation, you can ignore/cancel the registration.

Add - on a Vaio, the activation will be handled by the system being
locked to the machine's BIOS. The registration will be with Sony for
support, and does not need to be done - certainly does not need to be
done again
