I saw tonight when I put XP on my computer that you have
to register it in 30 days and you have to use a phone
line. Well I don't have a home phone, we use cells, how
in the heck do I register?????

Use the same phone line you used to send your post: the one connected to the
Internet.
It will take less than a minute to activate on the Web.

Actually, you are not required to Register at all, but you do have to Activate. Um, you can use any phone to activate, including your cell phone. If don't have a phone line, but the computer is online through a broadband connection such as DSL or Cable, the activation will normally occur online without a phone call.

Jessica,
What you saw was the "Activation" reminder. Activation is mandatory,
registration is optional and is mainly for Microsoft Marketing.
Activation can be accomplished without the computer connected to the
internet. Activation can be made from any type of phone; from a pay phone to
mobile; satellite phone; etc.
When you get to the screen the screen for activation, choose to activate by
phone, if you do not have access to the computer monitor, copy the 50 digit
key along with the toll free phone number to a txt file you can print, or
record manually to a paper note pad. Call the supplied number and when
prompted input the 50 digit key using the numeric keypad on the phone, you
will receive a 42 digit key in return for you to copy into the activation
screen. This will activate XP.

It is activate, not register that you have to do. Normally you do it on
the internet - get on the net, go to
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Activate Windows
and take Activate on the Internet now. You need only register (with
your name) if you want to.

If you have no internet connection, then you would have to use the 'by
phone', which gives you a toll free number you ought to be able to call
from your cellphone, to read out a long number and receive another back
to type in
