Cant update Key for Windows

Mart

Unfortunately I had to restart my computer due to an infestation of malware
that tried to convince me that there were virus' in my computer to try and
get me to buy some awfully low-quality virus checking program.
Now i've started my computer i can't regenerate a registration key for XP
Home Ed. I have the orginal key on the disk box, however when i ring the
automated phone number they just tell me nothing can be done and i'm
definately not paying £46 to ring the help-line. Anyone know what I can do...
i'm really stuck and only have 29 days left to register! ARGH!
Why is it so complicated and restrictive even though i bought this product
outright. I shouldn't have to be charged further to keep 're-registering'!
Anyone know what I can do to get back on the road?

When you write "I had to restart my computer", do you mean "I had to reload
Windows"? If so then perform the installation until you get prompted for a
25-character product key. Now enter the key that is stuck to your CD case or
PC. You then have 30 days to register your installation on-line.
