I was told my win xp as been registered on my puter but
im not sure.how do i find out if it as or not???
And i believe a message comes from win xp to tell me when
there are new downloads to download which ive not seen
yet.amd on going to microsoft web site .(here) i scanned
my puter and it said there was 66 new downloads .i dont
no what to do.do i need to download them all or just the
winxp ones??

Greetings Joan,

Download the "Critcal Updates". Those are the most important!

To turn on Automatic Updates follow these steps:
1) Right Click on "My Computer" and choose "Properties"
2) And choose "Automatic Updates" and turn it on

Thanks and best of luck!

If you have been running XP for more than 30 days and its
still going them your registered other wise it will shut
down. There should also be a link in accessories to
activate it. To configure the auto updates goto
start/control panel/system/auto updates and it will only
show the ones relevant to your PC.

Go to
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Activate Windows

If it is not there, and this is a machine that came with Windows
installed, then the activation (not registration which is voluntary and
does nothing for you) has been done by the maker. If it says 'Already
activated', then all is well. If it has an 'Activate on the internet' ,
get on the net in advance then click that (it takes 20 seconds or so)

Use Windows Update, which you should find in Start - All Programs. That
will check out the machine and tell you what updates are available. You
can either download critical ones, or wait a fairly short time now for
the new Service Pack 2 to be available as a complete download or CD to
be ordered (rather than do it through Windows Update which will take a
very long time, about impossible on a dial up connection)
