Registering a .dll

When I try to register a .dll, twain_32.dll, I get " DllRegisterServer entry
point not found". I've removed/reinstalled the drivers and related software
several times with no errors during installation, but twain still will not
work. Microsoft and Epson say reinstall windows xp, but I'm hesitant because
that often causes more problems than it's worth.Everything worked fine until
a few weeks ago. I already tried a system restore, but that failed. Can an
"entry point" be entered manually in the registry?

i think this dll doesn't need to be registered,

try putting a copy of the file in the same path as the application that is
calling it and in C:/Windows/system32
