Greetings.

In the company i work, in Portugal, there are 6 computers with legal French
Windows XP instalation. We want to install Portuguese version on these 6
computers so we bought 6 retail Windows XP SP2 Portuguese but they will be
delivered on the 27th October only.
I have an original Windows XP SP1 Portuguese instalation cd and cdkey. My
question is, can I install this Windows XP SP1 with its original cdkey on
these computers, not activating windows and then when the new instalation cds
arrive then i could change the cdkeys to the new ones and activate windows?
This way i could start working installing all software (office, cad, etc)
now and on the 27th i would just activate windows with the new cdkeys.

Thanks.
Pedro.

CD key are also supposed to be "language" dependant. So it "might"
not accept the key. I would test first.

Hello and thanks for replying.

The cd i have is WinXP Portuguese SP1.
The new cds are also WinXP Portuguese but probably the SP2 (i dont know if
there is WinXP SP2 PT RETAIL for sale...), so they are in the same language.
Will that create conflict on activation?
I know there are some tools to change CDKey.
What I want to do is install XP SP1 PT with its original CDKey, i would not
activate, wait untill day 27th, then change CDKeys to the new ones and
activate.

I hope i was clearer now.
Please apologise my bad english.

Thank you.
Pedro.

OEM keys can not be changed to Retail keys. OEM CD versions / keys
must be using with the correct version of the keys / CDs.
