I recently ran Belarc Advisor and found that KB914440 needs to be Reinstalled.

If I click on details, a page in Widows Help appears where an 'Important
Note' makes reference to the registry (something I don't like to mess with.)
However, my main concern here is that, if I don't attend the problem will it
eventually worsen and cause problems of a more severe nature. Please advise.

Thank you

My comp is a HP Pavilion running Win XP with SP2

You say you need to install KB914440?

Network Diagnostics for Windows XP is available to help identify and fix
network connection problems

And that article *does* say...

Important This article contains information about how to modify the
registry. Make sure to back up the registry before you modify it. Make sure
that you know how to restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more

However - reviewing the article as a whole - I see no registry editing. I
see the download link for the tool:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=EA541E8E-85A3-4D2F-A3A4-B329D03FC2FA

Where you validate to get the download, then you get the executable and
install the tool (if you need it.)
WindowsXP-KB914440-v12-x86-ENU.exe

I am not so sure you *need* this tool unless you are having trouble with
your network?
