Hi All,

Spent the last hour trying to enable other languages on my Win2k Pro
sp4 system, by clicking on the checkboxes under Control Panel |
Regional Options | General, and having my Win2k Pro cd-rom in my
drive. However, every time I try to apply these changes, I keep
getting prompted on files that it cannot find:

-----
The file 'prc.nls' on Windows 2000 Professional CD is needed.
Type the path where the file is located, and then click OK.
-----

I used "Agent Ransack" to search and was unable to find any .nls files
on my CD.
I am thinking it is probably archived in a .CAB file or whatnot, but
why would Regional Options not be able to find it?

I tried searching Usenet archives but it seems that no one has had a
similar problem before.

Windows gurus, any idea what I am missing that is causing these
errors?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yours truly -- Johnny

We have a different problem, but the answer to yours might help us. We're
trying to do exactly the same thing, but we do not have the Windows 2000
Professional CD, just the Toshiba Configuration Builder CD which came with my
wife's laptop. Thus, we do not have access to the added language files.
Does anyone know how I can get the Korean language files for Win2000Pro?
Thanks.

The language packs are a seperate collection of CDs. They can only be got by Corporate Agreement. They really are not available to the general public.

Mr. Hester - Any chance of getting the IME download files for Win2000Pro?
After all, they ARE available on the Microsoft web site for Win9x and Windows
XP. It's just a fluke they are not separately available for Win 2000 and
that some manufacturers substitute their own CD's for the standard Win 2000
CD (Professional in our case). Mr. Hester, are you by any chance a Microsoft
moderator? Thanks.

No what you are talking about is the language packs for Microsoft Internet Explorer. That is not what you want. It is confusing I understand. But those downloads do NOT allow the system to have language options which is what you asked about. The ability to have the system have language options is not available to the general public and is not available as a download from Microsoft.

In Windows 2000 we are talking about 3 CDs. There are around 5 CDs as language packs for Microsoft Office. Those also are not available to the general public.
