I just did a McAfee virus scan to my Win2k PC,
after lots of virus were cleaned:),
i got a problem:(. Anytime when i tried to
run regedt32.exe, a message told me like:

The registry editing has been disabled by your
administrator.

But i am the admin! Does anybody have any idea
what happened to this? thanks a looot!

Use the Group policy editor
%windir%\system32\gpedit.msc
User Config\Admin Templates\System\Prevent Access To registry Editing
Tools="Not Configured"

(usually spyware/ junkware that sets this Reg_Dword decimal value to 1)
DisableRegistryTools
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

Same answer use the Group policy editor
%windir%\system32\gpedit.msc
User Config\Admin Templates\System\Ctrl+Alt+Del Options\Remove Task
Manager="Not Configured"

Then be sure to get rid of the spyware/ junkware that you now have
installed.

My problem got solved!

what i did is almost like what Dave said, just a little
bit different.

step 1: run gpedit.msc --> user configuration -->
Administrative Templates --> System

step 2: change the setting of "Disable registry editing
tools" from "not configured" to "disable"

then...everything fine!:D

Thanks, Dave!
