Regedit won't delete files

I am having trouble with a usb card reader. XP doesn't
load the reader with plug and play, it wants a driver. I
went to regedit to remove the device files and reboot,
but I get a message that says I can't delete the files.

- Did it come with any drivers?
- Are there any instructions?
- What exactly are you trying to do in REGEDIT....

The card reader was supposed to be plug and play, no
drivers or instructions. Another post said go to HKLM-
system-ccs-enum-usb. Then find the folder with the
specific usb device listed, delete the folder and let XP
try to load again from scratch. I found the folder, but
when I try to delete it, I get a message that I can't
delete the files.
