I have an XP PC that appears to have a corrupt registry. Every time I do a search for an item in the registry (using regedit), it will search for a while and then the computer will just reboot. I have tried running several registry checker softwares, but can only seem to get about 92% through the registry scan before the computer reboots

I need a way to either rebuild the registry (without setting up the pc again) or recommendation for a good utility. So far I have tried Registry First Aid from RoseCitySoftware and a few others. Help!!!

Have you tried using the built-in tool
Start->Programs->Accessories->SystemTools->SystemRestore?

Unfortunately, the problem we are trying to resolve cannot be resolved by SystemRestore. Specifically, we are trying to utilize SQL Server Replication and every time we set up the subscription, it keeps referring to a old server name (which it can't find anymore). This whole thing started by looking for the old server name in the registry so we could remove it, so SystemRestore would not correct the problem

Thanks for the suggestion though
