I've been telling people that Photofiltre doesn't support the .gif file
format. After an email discussion with Antonio Da Cruz, the software
author, I would like to retract those remarks. I've always been aware
that the program could import and export that format, but because
whenever I loaded a .gif file the items under "Adjust" and "Filter" were
grayed out, I was under the impression that editing of the format was
unsupported.
As Antonio pointed out to me, all you have to do is the following if
this is the case for you:
1. Click on "Image"
2. Select "Mode"
3. Choose "RGB Color"
All of the items under "Adjust" and "Filter" will now be accessible.
Or, to quote Antonio:
"The GIF format is in 256 colors but the filters function only in 16M.
It is initially necessary to change to Image/Mode/Colors 16M"
There really isn't anything about this fine program that I can criticize
now. I'm still amazed that it's freeware.

I don't reply to trolls like Andy Mabbett or Doc (who uses sock puppets)
for instance. No adware, cdware, commercial software, crippleware,
demoware, nagware, PROmotionware, shareware, spyware, time-limited
software, trialware, viruses or warez for me, please.
