Hi All,

My name is Gopi and I am working with MS tech support.
This is happening on my of customer's computer.
He has windows xp pro installed and after installing kb917422 Electronic
Oxford Dictionary does not work.
There was another call with the same issue and after uninstalling this
update it was also resolved.
I was expecting quite a few number of calls with the same issue but we did
not get any other calls like that.
We still have been watching closely for similar issues and will keep you
posted if there are any updates.
So I would like to if anyone got the similar kind of issue and anyone found
a possible solution please share it.

Thanks and Regards
Gopi

Hi!
I know this unrelated to your email, but it read like youy may be the one to
guide my feeble knowledge of correcting a problem.
As a freelance photo journalist/documentor and Using Windows XP, I have been
uadding photos to my files, but in cleaning a few files I mistakenly deleted
a few files to the RECYLCE BIN; and then cleaned out the RECYLCE file, so my
files containing a lot of photos are gone. Is there a simple way to find
deleted recyle bin files?? Are they gone forever?

Thanks in advance for any assistance you can provide.

Gary

Hi Gary,

Yes there are third party softwares which can retrive data which are deleted
from recycle bin.
I did a google on undelete and it came up with
http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=undelete&meta=

But to be specific try this http://www.undelete.com/file-recovery.asp

If this does not recover the files then try the free download at
www.recovermyfiles.com
which has recovered even data from my formatted USB drive.
The best part is if you want to burn the recovered files to a CD then the
trial version can do it.
Only if you want to copy them to harddisk disk u will have buy this for 70
$

Hope this helps.

Thanks and Regards
Gopi

there are many undelete programs.
R-Studio <-- not free, but you can get a trial and I think it will at
least show if it can recovery the file
Active@ undelete may have a similar thing, with trial and full version.

The more you write to the hard drive the less chance of retreiving the
file. So if you're saving files, then don't leave it too long!

Stop using the computer until you try to recover the files. Deleted
files are not removed from the hard drive. Just their file entry is
removed and their space marked as available for use so the less the
system is used the lower is the chance they have been overwritten.

By the way, always have a full and complete backup. It's the #1 rule of
computing.

Here are some links to data recovery software. If these don't work you
could contact a data recovery service. They are not inexpensive,
starting at $500 or so, and going way up, but only you can decide how
much your data is worth.

"Deleting" a file doesn't actually delete it; it just marks the space as
available to be used. There are third-party programs that can sometimes
recover deleted files. The problem is that the space used by the file is
likely to become overwritten very quickly, and this makes the file
unrecoverable.

So your chances of successfully recovering this file are decent if you try
recovering it immediately after deleting it, and rapidly go downhill from
there. If you've been using the computer since then (for example to write
this question and read this answer), your chances are probably very poor by
now.

But if the file is important enough, it's worth a try anyway. Stop using the
computer in question immediately, if you haven't done so already. Download
an undelete program (here's one:
http://www3.telus.net/mikebike/RESTORATION.html but there are several others
to choose from; do a Google search) on a friend's computer and bring it to
yours on a floppy to try.

If this fails, your only other recourse is to take the drive to a
professional file recovery company. This kind of service is very expensive
and may or may not work in your case.
