reformatting XP Home

Currently Using XP home upgrade. Need to reformat and re-install

I have 2 hard drives, both formatted with 2 partitions

One is "C" and "E", other is "D" and "F". Will leave partitions as they are

I am going to reformat, then reinstall XP home
I was told that reformatting "C" could possibly cause me to lose what is on "E" drive

Is there much chance of losing info on "E"?

NEXT, on the "Clean Install Windows XP" site, line 15 has me confused, see next line

15. When you see the "Press any Key to Reboot" do not Press any Key. If CD boots anyway, remove CD and reboot.

Reinstalling xp wont bother the other partition, and shouldnt loose anything.
You should run a back-up once in awhile, try file transfer wizard, set computer
as old,set to put data in a new folder that you create, then transfer to cd.

I don't know who told you this, but I believe they are
WRONG. I just reformat one of my computers with XP Home
and I also have 2 harddrives with 2 partitions. The re-
install asked me which partition I want to put XP on and
the other one still has everything that was there before
the install. The re-install will automatically reboot
your computer, so as soon as you see the screen go black,
remove the CD so the computer will boot to the harddrive.

I hope this helps you understand the process better.

You shouldn't lose information on any other partition if you choose the
right partition to delete and format.

Sometimes the system will boot from the CD without pressing any key, when
this happens stop the setup, remove the CD and reboot. Setup will continue
normally. The main point is not to boot the CD again as it will start over
copying the files.

Thanks Andrew, Judy, and Michael

I didn't think it should have been a problem, but on another help site the guru there said it could destroy the second partition. ???

Really appreciate the help.
