reformatting with xp

When I went to reformat my computer with my windows xp cd (yes, it booted up
with the cd), i got an error at the end of the setup screen that said
something like 'hard error' or something like that. can someone please help
me?

Please try again, and this time make a note of the entire error message and
post it here. "something like 'hard error' or something like that" means
absolutely nothing.
