- Press the Delete key at boot time to get into the
BIOS setup program.
- Instruct the BIOS to boot from your CD drive.
- Boot the PC with your Win2000 CD.
- When prompted, allow the setup program to
format your hard disk. You will, of course,
lose all information.

By the way, you can't "reformat a computer", nor can
you "reformat a CPU". The only thing you can format
is the hard disk.

I have Norton also and if the message you are getting is
unable to delete (with a red bar in the Norton Popup) try
this, it has worked for me at times. Delete all of your
History, Cookies and Temporary Internet files. Then search
for all the Temp folders and delete all the contents in
the Temp folders. Then scan again and see if that worked.

Regards

Just because Norton says it cannot remove a file means nothing. I have a virus sitting in a folder called C:\hold. It just sits in there looking pretty. When I run online scanners they always tell me the virus "could not be removed." Even in my other system which has Norton installed it says the same thing.

An issue which may keep a file from being removed is that it is in use. In that case it can usually be removed at boot. And if Norton is suggesting it cannot even do that well then further proof to me anyway why I think Norton sux.

You will be reformating your HDD not CPU, its quite easy,
just go into your bios settings (the first program to load
when you turn your computer on) usually accessed by
pressing DEL or F2 change the Boot first from HD-0 to cd
rom put in your W2k cd. Save BIOS settings and exit. as
the computer reboots it will ask you to press anykey to
boot from cd, follow the prompts and you'll be set
