Reformat or repair

I would like your opinion as to whether I need to do a repair or reformat.
I have two viruses which I have not been able to get rid of. I can
quarenteen them but they keep reappearing. I have the paid version of AVG.
They are Adware Generic. KFK and Adware Generic. APA. My PC is running way
to slow. When I bring up task manager, I am running all kind of stuff that I
don't have a clue what it
is. 39 to be exact. My CD Burner will no longer work properly. This
thing is a mess. Do you have any suggestions?

It's very possible that your CD burner problem has been caused by a virus. It
happened to me. I forget the name of that virus but a lot of people got it. I
use AVG free version and it has always caught any virus. Don't understand
wht paid version didn't.

Do you know the names of these files? If you do you can go in the registry
and get rid of them by searching and deleting. From the start button go to
RUN and type in REGEDIT. This puts you deep in the system and you must be
careful. In the box that comes up click on EDIT and then FIND. Make sure you
highlight MY COMPUTER at the top of the registry editor to make sure it gets
a full search. type in the file name that you want to find in the box that
says FIND WHAT then click FIND NEXT. If it finds an occurence of the file it
will stop and highlight it for you. Delete that file or key and only that. To
continue the search click the F3 button and continue on until you get the
message that the registry sezrch is done.

You say you know these are adware files, you know what they are but you
can't get rid of them? You could also download SPYBOT for free. It's good and
always updateable for free. It will find every place these files are hiding
and get rid of them for good. This is only for Adware.

It's not bad every once in a few years if you don't have tons of documents
and pictures etc. to reformat your drive. Then you know for sure, but it
comes at a cost

good luck Michael
