Referencing Posts ?

Hi,

Does anyone know how to put a link into a post that refers to another post
and which only refers to that particular post and not any others. By post I
mean the title of the thread only, and not other posts which contain this
title within their text.

One used to be able to use the group name
microsoft.pulic.windows.vista.general and
then \and the message thread listed after the poster's name. That no longer
seems to work, maybe due
to LIVE setups.........

The Group is MICROSOFT.PUBLIC.WINDOWS.VISTA.GENERAL

And the message line below now makes no sense to me......

news://msnews.microsoft.com/MICROSOFT.PUBLIC.WINDOWS.VISTA.GENERAL

will get you to this group - maybe someone else can figure out the
rest......

Click...More Options / Individual Message...
copy the link from your address bar.

Hi,

Finally found the answer to this problem. What you do is you double click on
the first post in the thread, this opens the post as a new web page. If you
copy the address of that page, that is then your link to that post.

Use this syntax:


For example:

news://msnews.microsoft.com/[email protected]

The Message ID can be found in the message header (Right-click on the post,
choose Properties, select the Details tab, and look at the "References: "
field)
