++MS PowerPoint Compatible Presentation Freeware++

* PowerPoint 2007 Beta 2 (part of Office 2007 Beta 2):
http://www.microsoft.com/office/preview/beta/getthebeta.mspx -
Yeah...good until January then the program dies :-(. However check out
the new PowerPoint along with the rest of Office 2007. The interface
is impressive and has radically changed for the better.

* Impress (part of Open Office): http://www.openoffice.org/ - the gold
standard for this sort of thing.

* Easy Presentation (part of EasyOffice):
http://easyoffice-freeware.en.softonic.com/ie/14346 - has gone
completely commercial now. This link is for the older nagware version.
The PowerPoint compatibility is claimed but I have yet to see it work.

++Online PowerPoint Compatible Presentation Freeware++

* ThinkFree Show (part of ThinkFree Office Online 3 Beta):
http://www.thinkfree.com/common/main.tfo? - use it while its still
free. This is a high quality Java based online PowerPoint compatible
presentation program.

* Zoho Show (part of Zoho Office Group): http://www.zohoshow.com/ -
cool simple program. Imports ppt files as slides. No animation.

++Freeware Presentation Viewers (May or May not be PPT Compatible)++

* PowerPoint 2003 Viewer: http://tinyurl.com/3nend - will display
PowerPoint 97 - 2003 files.

* Columbus Viewer:
http://www.oasys-software.com/products/document_management/columbus/ _
will display other presentation files like Lotus Freelance, Corel
Presentation up to Version 10 and Lotus Freelance. Awesome viewer.

* Lotus KeyView: http://www.s2services.com/hosted-freeware/kvlot32.exe
- will open Lotus Freelance files.

* Harvard Graphics Advanced Presentations Viewer:
http://www.harvardgraphics.com/hg-viewer-download.asp - for viewing
newer Harvard Graphics presenations.

++Non-PowerPoint Compatible Presentation Freeware++

* Ragtime Solo 6 Beta 6:
http://www.ragtime-online.com/link.cgi?ragtime_beta - even though it's
a beta it appears to be a trial. Old freeware version is here as Susan
pointed out:
http://home.drenik.net/rola/Bug_Free_Software/FW_Office/RagTime Solo 5.6.5/RagTime_Solo_565_en.exe.

* PowerBullet: http://powerbullet.com/ - can produce flash based
presentations. Super cool but I think uder utilized.

* Wink: http://www.debugmode.com/wink/ - another supercool freeware.
Mainly for use in creating tutorials for how to use software by
capturing and annotating screenshots and stringing them togethor in
smooth running videos. If you are clever though, I would think that
you can create animated presentation using say just WordPad and Wink.

CamStudio: http://www.camstudio.org/ - similar to Wink but simpler.

++Online Non-PowerPoint Compatible Free Webware++

* S5 - http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/s5/ - "S5 is a slide show format
based entirely on XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript. With one file, you can
run a complete slide show and have a printer-friendly version as well.
The markup used for the slides is very simple, highly semantic, and
completely accessible. Anyone with even a smidgen of familiarity with
HTML or XHTML can look at the markup and figure out how to adapt it to
their particular needs. "

* SlideML - http://slideml.bitflux.ch/ - "SlideML is a XML format for
Slideshows. You need CSS, XSLT or any other programming language to
transform it in some human enjoyable form. The first benefit of this
is, that you can display your presentation for different purposes in
different formats like HTML, PDF, SVG and others. The SlideML site will
provide a CSS version as well as several XSLT's so that you can start
right now writing SlideML. The second benefit is, that your SlideML
will also be readable in say ten, twenty years, something Powerpoint
and other Binary Formats will have a lot of problems with for sure."

Anyone have any additions please mention them...

There are more apps on the ACF pages.

Most special purpose viewers are listed on the files page:
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_FILEUTILITIES.php#2.10FileViewer:Powerpoint

Graphics has several subcategories for slide shows, presentations etc.
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_GRAPHICS.php#2.03Presentations
the above category includes Canon Mediator and Corel Presentations (v 9)

Multimedia has this subcategory:
http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/acf/P_MULTIMEDIA.php#4.20ScreenCapture:Video
which includes AutoScreenRecorder, Bulent's Screen Recorder (v 1.5a),
CamStudio (v 2.0), CapturePad (v 0.1), and Wink

PowerBullet is listed under: WEB DESIGN 3.01 Flash Presentations
Columbus is listed under: ORGANIZERS 1.05 Organizer: Document Management

FWIW I think your list would benefit from some grouping by subcategory
- although not necessarily the same ones I use. ;)
