Ref print spooler

C

Cosmin Tudor

Hello ,

I have Windows Vista Ultimate install on my desktop . The problem is I can't
print or make print preview in Office Aplications . When I want to make a
print the spooler service crash and after many tries I make a print . In
event log I have :

Faulting application spoolsv.exe, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp
0x4549b734, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp
0x4549bdc9, exception code 0xc0000374, fault offset 0x000af1c9, process id
0x100c, application start time 0x01c71912e45f21d1.

and

The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 22
time(s).

Anybody have a suggestion ?

1) Has printing ever worked properly on this Vista Ultimate installation and
of what build?

2) You could have what is called a "hung port." Try stopping and starting
the the Print Spooler service, jobs are scheduled on ports that have
stopped responding (hung ports). Go to run and type in services.msc to
reach the list of services and find the service under "P" for print.

3) If this worked before, try using a system restore point to before this
problem started.

4) If these don't work and you have a Vista DVD (this forecasts that all of
you who buy OEM preinstalls and don't get a Vista DVD won't be able to use
this --Jill Zoeller is always going to remain silent when confronted with
this as is Darryll Gorter or anyone else from Microsoft because they know it
is a huge rip off for the buyers of PC's who don't insist on a Vista DVD)
you can put in the DVD and try to run Startup Repair.

You run the startup repair tool this way:

Note The computer must be configured to start from a CD or from a DVD. For
information about how to configure the computer to start from a CD or from a
DVD, see the information that came with the computer.
2. Restart the computer. To do this, click Start, click the arrow next to
the Lock button, and then click Restart.

This usually means that you enter bios setup by whatever key or keys
(sometimes there is more than one key that will do it for your model--go to
pc manufacturer site) and configure CD to be first in the boot order.

See for ref:
Access/Enter Motherboard BIOS

Note If you cannot restart the computer by using this method, use the power
button to turn off the computer. Then, turn the computer back on.
3. Set your language preference, and then click Next.

Note In most cases, the startup repair process starts automatically, and you
do not have the option to select it in the System Recovery Options menu.
4. Click Repair your computer.
5. In the System Recovery Options dialog box, click the operating system
that you want to repair, and then click Next.
6. In the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair to start the
repair process.
7. When the repair process is complete, click Finish.

3) Select your OS for repair.

4) Its been my experience that you can see some causes of the crash from
theWin RE feature:

You'll have a choice there of using:

1) Startup Repair
2) System Restore
3) Complete PC Restore

Good luck,
